Housing

London faces a defining challenge: to rapidly meet the demand for new housing whilst satisfying the desire for well considered, high quality and low energy new developments.

Our housing architects aim for net-zero carbon to create exceptional homes that provide the best possible backdrop for a sustainable, fulfilling and enjoyable urban life. Our contextual approach draws inspiration from the rich urban fabric of London. Hierarchy, proportion, generous volumes and tall windows are as important to our affection for the city in the 21st century as they were in the 19th century. We add value through exemplary design to create homes that Londoners deserve.

AFL was shortlisted in the BD Housing Architect of the Year Award. Recent projects include an innovative Build to Rent housing scheme in Walthamstow, East London, providing 26 high-quality new homes, and a mid-rise housing and mixed-use scheme in Southwark, South London. This project was designed to continue the borough’s rich history of timber buildings with a sustainable Cross-Laminated Timber structure.
