Terrazzo Monolith

The Monolith series is an exercise in simplicity; an honest celebration of terrazzo not only as a material, but as an object in its own right.

Simple geometric forms allow the material to speak for itself. This series of cubes and cylinders highlight the tonal variations of the aggregate, the hard nature of concrete, and emphasise the sheer weight of the material.

Natural stone makes up about 70% of our terrazzo by weight. All of our stone is extracted in the UK, minimising carbon emissions by reducing transportation, whilst celebrating Britain’s diverse geological strata. The stone used in the terrazzo mix is a by-product from quarrying that would otherwise be a redundant material.

GGBS is used to replace up to half of the typical cement content, significantly reducing the material’s embodied energy. No environmentally harmful resins are used.
