This 1980’s Notting Hill mews house will be refurbished to create a calming, meditative home. Currently in the detailed design stage, the project focuses on preserving the existing external façade, while dramatically improving the interior layout and the connection to the garden.
Design Concept
The refurbishment is tailored to the client’s lifestyle, with a new open-plan layout that transforms the interior. A muted palette of natural materials – stone, warm plaster and timber instils a quiet, contemplative atmosphere.
Rear Extension
At the rear of this mews house, the existing extension is redesigned as a carved timber bay, inspired by traditional mashrabiya screens, layering wood to frame garden views and filter light. A roof light with deep timber fins provides privacy and shading, while further enhancing the warmth of the space and drawing attention to the natural material.
Bespoke Joinery
The kitchen is framed in natural timber, its self-finished joinery integrating seamlessly into the home’s tactile aesthetic as it leads through to the tranquil rear garden.

This sense of calm continues into the refurbished bedrooms, where timber-framed wardrobes with inset linen panels bring a layer of warmth and texture, softening the space and echoing the home’s tactile material palette.
We are looking forward to developing the technical package for this characterful mews house and taking it through to construction with
