The theme of this years London Festival of Architecture is ‘The Playful City’ in response to the forthcoming olympic games

There are hundreds of events and talks across the capital, but our ‘not to be missed’ recommendations include:

1. A brutalist cycle tour that will visit some of London’s fantastic concrete gems of the 60’s and 70’s, from the Barbican to the South bank.

2. A lecture discussing the work of architect Edwin Lutyens and his designs for Hampstead Garden Suburb.

3. Spectres of Film: Islington’s lost cinemas and other Spectral Spaces, an exhibition of work by London based artist Sam Nightingale. This project features fascinating archive photography of Islington that documents local architecture and cinematic history.
