At Highshore Road, London SE15, we refurbished a Grade II listed house in the Holly Grove Conservation Area, Peckham. The property has been reinvented with a new skin of tonal and textural variety. The house was completely renovated, upgrading its thermal performance, interior and services, while retaining its historic character.

Our stainless steel and timber kitchen in Peckham, south London
“It was a real pleasure to work with Architecture for London. Everything was achieved with a calm and can-do attitude and a tasteful eye on detail.” – Jill, Peckham
Milton Road
At Milton Road, in Lambeth, or architect designed house extension improves a Victorian property that originally had a dark kitchen with unsatisfactory views of the garden. A side return and rear extension create a light, spacious home for a growing family. The new space provides sufficient width for an island unit and dining table, allowing the kitchen to function as a social room.
The smaller, easy access door to the garden was designed with the family dog in mind. A polished concrete floor forms a hard wearing, wipe clean surface that also accommodates pets well. This extends into the garden, providing a terrace and uniting interior and exterior spaces. New landscaping and garden fences complete the external space.
The extension is clad in stained cedar chevrons and the pattern folds over a number of planes, suggesting a manipulated and sculpted form whilst tying together the new side and rear additions.

The extension added significant floor area to the house, while the internal alterations have reconfigured the property to be better suited to modern life, with a generous new family bathroom and a master ensuite. Original details including cornices, fireplaces and Victorian tiling were repaired or replaced where required.

Cleaver Square
At Cleaver Square, SE11, a full refurbishment with significant structural alterations was undertaken. The work included the demolition of a mansard roof, the enlarging and refinishing the previous ground floor extension, the addition of a new dormer roof extension, and bespoke joinery in the kitchen and in the bedrooms.
This project was a complex adaptation of the existing building to meet our client’s requirements while respecting its historic setting.

Claylands Road
At Claylands Road, our south London house extension improves an early Victorian end-of-terrace house from about 1840 in Lambeth. We rebuilt a London stock brick wall and connected this wall to the new side return infill extension, with a frameless glass roofltight and wall junction.
Crofton Park Road
At Crofton Park Road, in Lewisham, we gained planning consent for a part demolition of an existing ground floor rear extension and construction of a new single storey rear extension. For the same property we submitted a certificate of lawfulness for a loft conversion, and our design was confirmed as permitted development.
