Architecture for London has been appointed to work on an interior design and fit out for a menswear shop in Mount Street, Mayfair. The interior design takes inspiration from the brand’s traditional approach, with finishes that suggest longevity and heritage, including solid oak, bronze and terrazzo. Bespoke cabinetry and display niches are in oak, with veneer panelling throughout the ground floor. A new stair and balustrade finished in bronze leads to the lower ground floor tailoring and staff areas. Non-original suspended ceilings and partitions are to be removed and new lighting will be designed throughout.
External alterations include refinishing existing hardwood, reinstating decorative inlay grilles and new bronze painted signage to the front of the shop. New services and air conditioning units are required to the rear.
The shop is within a Grade II listed building in a conservation area of Westminster. Listed building and planning consents are therefore required for the alterations. The building was built in 1887 and is faced in a light red terracotta, with an early renaissance decorative style.
Location: Mount Street, Mayfair W1K
Project architect: Ben Ridley
