Architecture for London has competed outline design for alterations to a house in Hackney. The property is a Grade 2 listed Georgian house on Cassland Road, built as part of a grand terrace in the late 18th century.

The house has significant period character and many original details survive. It has three storeys over a basement, with three windows to each floor and is faced in stock brick with six over six sash windows set within rendered reveals to the main floors. The ground floor is raised over the basement with five steps to the panelled front door under a semi-circular fanlight.
We are proposing to refurbish the interior of the house, retaining or restoring missing elements. Plasterwork and joinery, including doors, window shutters, sashes architraves and skirtings will be repaired. The external walls of the basement are to be damp proofed and the interior of the coal stores will be tanked.
A kitchen extension at the rear will better connect the property with the garden.
