Architecture for London has completed detailed design for alterations to a Gospel Oak house, in the Borough of Camden.

An existing loft conversion at third floor is reconfigured and improved to provide an additional useable bedroom. The previous narrow ladder access is replaced with a building regulations compliant, space saving ‘one-two’ stair in timber. A space saving stair was required due to the limited access and headroom in the loft space.

As the existing loft had not been extended to the rear with a dormer window, it maintains its original pitched roof form. Ceiling heights that allow standing room are therefore only in the centre of the plan, over approximately a third of the available floor total area.

At second floor, the generous master suite extends over the entire footprint. The master suite was altered to provide both a walk in wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom, both within the footprint of the original rear room.
