Clapham house extension
4th May 2013

Architecture for London has completed detailed design for a Clapham house extension and loft conversion, in the Borough of Lambeth
The house is located on Caldervale Road and will be extended and refurbished to provide a large kitchen and dining room.

A five-metre long roof light running the full length of the original rear outrigger provides a bright space in the extension and brings natural light into the rear reception room. A new kitchen runs the length of the extension, with a breakfast bar in the centre of the space, and full width sliding aluminium framed doors lead to the garden. A ground floor WC is created under the staircase.
The loft conversion works fell under permitted development, so a lawful development certificate was obtained in addition to the planning consent for the rear extension.
Caldervale Road SW4 is a wide, tree-lined street, close to Abbeville Village and the green spaces of Clapham Common. The road is uniform with late Victorian terraces, each having two storey bay windows.
