Architecture for London has completed outline design for a Brixton house extension. The property is a detached Victorian house on St Saviours Road, in the borough of Lambeth.

The ground floor plan was organised so that the living, kitchen and dining spaces flowed into each other and were aligned on an axis, with new roof lights that bring natural light deep into the plan. The axis continues with a large timber-framed pivot door that leads to a stone terrace and finally the garden. The extension also contains a new study, which is separated from the dining area by joinery and a change in floor level. A new utility area and a guest WC make better use of the existing circulation space at ground floor. Externally, the extension is finished in marble and oak.
Alterations at first floor include creating a new master bedroom with a generous ensuite bathroom, and a new terrace to the rear that overlooks the garden.
