Social Housing in Sa Pobla, Mallorca
This social housing development in Mallorca was designed by RipollTizon architects. The project provides 19 apartments and maisonettes on a tight urban site. The architects were keen to draw on the features of the surrounding buildings, yet reinvent this traditional context in a contemporary design. Materials are restrained, with white plastered walls and exposed concrete finishes, yet facades are animated by warm timber shutters and doors. The layout and movement of these shutters by occupants creates a constantly changing elevation that reflects occupation.
