Mobile Architecture Lab
Project Architect:Ben Ridley
Services:Public Consultation Exhibition
The Mobile Architectural Laboratory is a public space design research project, operating from a specially adapted ice cream van. The project was commissioned to undertake a series of interactive design workshops in a range of locations in towns and cites across the UK, engaging local communities in lively discussions about how best to use their public-spaces. Design proposals were developed from these discussions and presented to local authorities and community groups in a series of exhibitions from the MAL.
The presence of the MAL itself also acted as a public space beacon to celebrate a range of events, including the Bournenouth ‘Arts by the Sea’ and the Dalston ‘Sound Tracks’ festival.
